What Can We Learn from Abraham in the Bible?

Abraham is the first ancestor of the Israelite people. He was blessed by God because he trusted in him. Abraham and his wife, Sarah, did not have children until they were very old in age. However, God promised Abraham that he will make his descendants as many as the sands on the sea shore and stars in the sky. When Sarah saw that she couldn’t have children, she let Abraham sleep with her maidservant, Hagar. Hagar bore Abraham a son called Ishmael when he was 86 years old. Because Abraham trusted in God, God gave Sarah a son called Isaac, the child of promise, when he was 100 years old. Isaac is the child of promise because his descendants will be the ones that inherit the land of Canaan. Isaac had twin sons including Jacob and Esau. Jacob, also known as Israel, had 12 sons, who formed the nation of Israel.
Abraham is the spiritual father of all who put their faith in Jesus Christ. He is the physical father of the Jewish people. God tested Abraham by asking him to offer his son, Isaac, in somewhere on Mount Moriah to him. Abraham obeyed God and did as he was told. When Isaac asked him where is the animal for the offering, Abraham replied God will provide it. Abraham knew God will provide the animal for the offering as he believed in God’s promise, that Isaac will be the promise child, that inherit the land of Canaan (Genesis 22:6-14),
