Can Christians Get Tattoos?

Tattoo is inking your body with images. Christians should not tattoo any part of their bodies as it is forbidden in the bible. Tattooing is risky and can cause skin infections and allergic reactions. If the needle is not clean, you may contract diseases such as hepatitis, AIDS, tetanus and etc. Your body is a gift of God and you should take care of it. God does not want us to tattoo our bodies even if you tattoo an image or a message for purpose of spreading the gospel. Your body is God’s temple and you should treat it as sacred. Although Leviticus 19:28 is an Old Testament commandment, Christians are still obliged to follow it because it is a moral law.

Ye shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor print any marks upon you: I am the LORD. (Leviticus 19:28 KJV)

Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you? If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are. (1 Corinthians 3:16-17 KJV)

And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. (Romans 12:2 KJV)

What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s. (1 Corinthians 6:19-20 KJV)

And when he was gone forth into the way, there came one running, and kneeled to him, and asked him, Good Master, what shall I do that I may inherit eternal life? And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God. Thou knowest the commandments, Do not commit adultery, Do not kill, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Defraud not, Honour thy father and mother. (Mark 10:17-19 KJV)
