Self control is one of the 9 fruits of the Holy Spirit. Self control is important in various situations in your life such as anger, food, spending of credit card and other temptations. Many people who want to obtain self control over various issues in their lives attend seminar or take pills or use other methods. 

In order to effectively practice all the 9 fruits of the Holy Spirit, you must be controlled by the Holy Spirit. You must surrender yourself completely to God by making every necessary adjustments if you want to lead a spirit controlled life. When the Holy Spirit is in control of your life, you will be able to act and react in a spiritual manner. Lack of self control may be caused by the lack of self discipline.

Christians must crucify their fleshly desires to the cross and start living their lives for God. Every bad habits that are no good should be eliminated from your life. God is holy so we must live holy lifestyles for him. If you don’t have self control, you can pray to God to give you strength to overcome your weaknesses.

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. And they that are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another. (Galatians 5:22-26 KJV)
